I was all set to update the site to talk about Wizard World Chicago
and then, I hear about Michael Turner dying.
Here’s some of my thoughts:
If you don’t follow comics, you might not care. To comics fans, Michael Turner was a hero, an icon.
Beyond creating some of the best art in comics, he was genuinely a nice guy.
He had been fighting cancer off and on for years. he’d had surgeries, sometimes had problems walking, but by god he came to conventions, met fans, signed stacks upon stacks of comics, all for his fans. He was a shining example to a lot of us.
I got the joy of meeting him a few times at Wizard World conventions. He signed my sketchbook, but I was unable to get a sketch. I told myself I would make it happen to get him to sketch my book. and now….
I wish his family peace in dealing with this pain, and his fans mourn the passing of a great artist. and even more so a great man.

On this day of thanks, remember that we all have a lot to be thankful for.
I’m thankful for the chance to work with everybody, and have a great time at the show last weekend. Saw some great friends, and made some new ones.
I hope everyone has a safe and fun Thanksgiving!

I was looking at the vendor list for the upcoming Wizard show, and it seems like Stylin’ Online, the giant t-shirt booth, won’t be there this year. Drat. I love their selection, but there should be plenty of other vendors there to drop some money.
Make sure to look for Andy Korn. His wife makes Bottle cap necklaces you have to have. They are great. I have a bunch.
